I finished my last sailing class last weekend.  It wasn’t what I expected.

I thought sailing would be relaxing and fun, however, I didn’t really experience either.

Let me explain.

I think ‘fun’ is relative to the company you are with.  If I were with friends, the whole experience probably would have been different.  Instead I was with people I didn’t know.  Also, we had two instructors.  One was in training, the other wasn’t.   It was WAY to confusing.  One would say something, and the other would say another.  Most of the time they were not on the same page.  If I were sailing with you, my friends, I know the whole sailing thing would be a blast!

Relaxing. .   I learned that the smaller the boat the more work you need to do.  The bigger the boat, less you need to do. . but the more you need an experienced crew.  We were on a smaller boat, 24′.  It was big enough to not really flip, but small enough to learn on.

I learned a lot of new terminology, new knots, and got to spend my weekend on the water.  Those two things were great.  I love the water, it so much fun.

Was it worth the money?

Depends on what I do with this new knowledge.  If I start sailing regularly, yep.  If I don’t ever sail again. .  yep, I learned more about me.   If I don’t ever think about sailing again. .  nope.

The end of the term is just about here.   It feels real good to be almost done.  The only trouble is that I will be taking a summer course soon after the end of spring term.  It’s alright, I guess.   New class, and a faster tempo.  I don’t know. .  The jury is still out about this one.  Summer school isn’t exactly my idea of fun, but what really is?

I finished my sailing class.  But I will save that story for another day.

Yep, it is my birthday.

I have spent one more year on the planet.

28 of them to be exact.

We celebrated my birthday last weekend, as I am busy with sailing classes this week in the evening.

I received some good stuff, I especially liked the books and shoes.   It is kind of sad, or a sign of aging, when you are happy to receive books.  I know that it wasn’t the case several years ago.

Well. . .  I guess I will go.

What a weekend.

Our Ultimate team really stepped up and put the hammer down!  We had one of the best games of the season.  Everyone played really well, the weather was pretty good, and we all had a good time.  Not much more you can ask for.

I also had the ‘opportunity’ to do some yard work at a friends house.  It wasn’t all that bad, especially when you are doing it with other people.  After all the hard work was done, the yard looks awesome.

Aside from the frisbee and yard work, I also got to do homework, and go to a couple of parties.  One was a neighborhood block party.  The homemade corn dogs, and onions tasted great.  So did the cakes and other food.  The other was a birthday party.  You know, watching people play guitar hero is very funny.  Especially when they haven’t played before.  Good times are sure to be had.

Now I am back at work. .  yeah. .  at work.

I’m sure many of you have been wondering, “Why hasn’t Bob updated his blog??”

The truth is, I am kind of lazy. . and I have a lot of school work to do.

My new comic-disc website is slowly coming along.  Not as fast as I would like, but I guess I can only learn so much.  I am thinking that I  might get a book to learn more about the program I am being taught.  (Visual Studio 2008)  There are a lot of really useful tools.  Even an average web designer can make a professional looking website.   It also helps having an awesome teacher.  There are not many teachers where I wish I knew what they knew.  Actually, I don’t know if I have ever had a teacher like that??  Anywho, this guy rocks.

My other class. . .  well, not so hot.  It is all about the journey.  I think I like the IT based courses more than anything else.  Hopefully, next term (Fall) I will be able to get into this database structure class.  I am also looking at taking a summer school class.  Do I really want to be doing more work when I could have a lot of free time?   Carpe diem, right?  What else will I be doing?   I will actually have the free time to do school work.

Sailing finally starts this week.  May 14th is a classroom session, but at least it starts.  I will keep you posted.

Work. .  well, work is work.  I am having a hard time at work.  I don’t necessarily like the direction things are going, and I really don’t like limited ability for advancement.  Try none.  Where is the motivation when I get paid the same whether I work harder or not?  Nor, do I like working alone.  I would like to have someone else around to bounce ideas off of, and to learn from.  Not to mention, extra brain power is great when struggling with problems.

The weather continues to be nice.  I think it is safe to say that spring is finally here.  I am riding my bike to work, and enjoying the outdoors.  I am hoping to go on a good bike ride in the next month.  Off road baby!  I just need the snow to melt.

I just wanted to say that I am working on new ideas for comic-disc. I don’t want to write them all here, but hopefully comic-disc will get a new life in the next year.

I just bought Grand Theft Auto IV yesterday. It is an interesting game, not what I thought. The game is a fun experience, so that’s what counts. I have never played one of these games so there is probably a lot to this game that I don’t even know about.

My classes are going so so. . I really like the e-business class, not the other one. The group project is not coolio at all. I didn’t think it would be bad, but when nobody knows what they are talking about (business leader, and teacher). . . the project becomes rather difficult.

The weather has been getting pretty good. Mid 60’s almost everyday! Yippy. . and SUN. . .
